Android notification icon
Android notification icon, the white status-bar silhouette
An Android notification icon is not a tiny colorful app icon. It is a white silhouette on transparency, so the status bar can tint it.
Why the colorful icon fails here
Android tints notification icons. Color, gradients, and soft detail turn into a blur or a solid blob. The file that works is a single recognizable silhouette. Storescreens builds that silhouette from the store icon set’s mark and exports it at 96 × 96 pixels with transparency.
iOS does not ask for this file. Apple scales the main app icon. The notification icon is one of the Android-only pieces in the set, next to the adaptive layers.
Small on purpose
If the mark needs fine lines to make sense, it will not survive at status-bar size. The store icon set keeps the notification file on its own Android menu so it never gets mixed into a screenshot frame.

Common questions
Do I upload this to Play Console?
The notification icon ships inside the Android app. Play Console wants the 512 × 512 listing icon and the feature graphic separately.
Can I use the full-color icon?
The status bar needs the silhouette. The full-color icon remains the listing and launcher artwork.
Is it part of the same generation?
Yes. One store icon set includes the notification silhouette with the other store files.
