2026 reference guide
App Store Screenshot Sizes 2026
iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, Apple TV, and Vision Pro dimensions, checked against Apple’s official App Store Connect documentation.
Quick answer
For a straightforward portrait export, use 1290 × 2796 px for iPhone in the 6.9-inch slot and 2064 × 2752 px for iPad in the 13-inch slot. Both are accepted options, not the only allowed sizes. Upload 1–10 JPEG or PNG images without transparency. The 13-inch set is required for iPad apps; iPhone apps need a 6.5-inch set if no 6.9-inch set is supplied.

Apple App Store screenshot sizes are exact pixel dimensions for a display slot, not a single universal image size. Match the slot, orientation, and file format before uploading. StoreScreens.ai creates screenshot sets with supported device exports; the tables below distinguish all accepted Apple dimensions from the export sizes used by the product.
If your interface stays the same across device sizes and localizations, Apple lets you provide the highest-resolution required screenshots and scale them down. Use custom sets when a smaller screen or tablet layout needs different framing. Apple’s Media Manager guide explains how to review and replace scaled screenshots.
iPhone Screenshot Sizes
Each line in a cell is an accepted option. The final column shows which set Apple uses when you do not supply that display class.
| Device / display | Portrait (px) | Landscape (px) | Requirement / scaling |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6.9″ | 1260 × 2736 1290 × 2796 1320 × 2868 | 2736 × 1260 2796 × 1290 2868 × 1320 | Primary upload choice |
| 6.5″ | 1284 × 2778 1242 × 2688 | 2778 × 1284 2688 × 1242 | Required for iPhone if no 6.9″ set If omitted: scaled from 6.9″. |
| 6.3″ | 1179 × 2556 1206 × 2622 | 2556 × 1179 2622 × 1206 | Custom set optional If omitted: scaled from 6.5″. |
| 6.1″ | 1170 × 2532 1125 × 2436 1080 × 2340 | 2532 × 1170 2436 × 1125 2340 × 1080 | Custom set optional If omitted: scaled from 6.5″. |
6.9-inch iPhone: the primary upload choice
The three accepted portrait sizes are 1260 × 2736 or 1290 × 2796 or 1320 × 2868 px. Pick an option that fits your capture or design workflow. There is no need to create all three alternatives for this one slot.
6.5-inch iPhone: required when the 6.9-inch set is absent
A 6.5-inch set remains an accepted route for iPhone apps. If you supply a 6.9-inch set instead, Apple can use a scaled version for this group.
6.3-inch and 6.1-inch iPhone: custom framing when needed
These slots fall back to the 6.5-inch set. Inspect small labels and edge spacing in the scaled result; upload a custom set if your screenshots need different composition.
Older iPhones and additional display classes
Legacy sizes remain in Apple’s reference. Status-bar variants are listed in order: without the status bar, then with it. Apple also lists separate iPhone Duo inner and outer display sizes, without stating a requirement or scaling fallback for them.
| Device / display | Portrait (px) | Landscape (px) | Requirement / scaling |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5.5″ | 1242 × 2208 | 2208 × 1242 | Legacy custom set If omitted: scaled from 6.1″. |
| 4.7″ | 750 × 1334 | 1334 × 750 | Legacy custom set If omitted: scaled from 5.5″. |
| 4″ | 640 × 1096 640 × 1136 | 1136 × 600 1136 × 640 | Legacy custom set If omitted: scaled from 4.7″. Without / with status bar, respectively. |
| 3.5″ | 640 × 920 640 × 960 | 960 × 600 960 × 640 | Legacy custom set If omitted: scaled from 4″. Without / with status bar, respectively. |
| iPhone Duo · outer | 1398 × 2034 | 2034 × 1398 | Listed by Apple; no requirement or scaling rule stated |
| iPhone Duo · inner | 2007 × 2853 | 2853 × 2007 | Listed by Apple; no requirement or scaling rule stated |
iPad Screenshot Sizes
If your app runs on iPad, provide a 13-inch set using 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 px in portrait, or the corresponding landscape dimensions. iPad screenshot sizes differ from iPhone sizes; use the tablet interface when planning the composition.
| Device / display | Portrait (px) | Landscape (px) | Requirement / scaling |
|---|---|---|---|
| 13″ | 2064 × 2752 2048 × 2732 | 2752 × 2064 2732 × 2048 | Required if the app runs on iPad |
| 12.9″ | 2048 × 2732 | 2732 × 2048 | Custom set optional If omitted: scaled from 13″. |
| 11″ | 1488 × 2266 1668 × 2420 1668 × 2388 1640 × 2360 | 2266 × 1488 2420 × 1668 2388 × 1668 2360 × 1640 | Custom set optional If omitted: scaled from 13″. |
| 10.5″ | 1668 × 2224 | 2224 × 1668 | Legacy custom set If omitted: scaled from 12.9″. |
| 9.7″ | 1536 × 2008 1536 × 2048 768 × 1004 768 × 1024 | 2048 × 1496 2048 × 1536 1024 × 748 1024 × 768 | Legacy custom set If omitted: scaled from 10.5″. Each resolution pair is without / with status bar. |
The 12.9-inch and 11-inch slots fall back to the 13-inch set. The older 10.5-inch and 9.7-inch slots follow the chain shown above. For the 9.7-inch row, each pair lists the version without a status bar followed by the version with it.
Portrait vs Landscape
All dimensions are width × height. Use portrait for a tall composition and landscape for a wide one. Follow the explicit table values: legacy images without a status bar are not always a simple width-and-height swap. Keeping one orientation throughout a set is an editorial choice for visual consistency, not an upload rule stated in Apple’s specification.

File Formats and Upload Requirements
Apple’s screenshot specifications list .jpeg, .jpg, .png files and prohibit alpha channels or transparency. Check the final exported file, rather than relying on how it looks in the editor.
Before you upload
- Match the selected display slot. Confirm exact width and height against an accepted row. Aspect ratio alone is not enough.
- Flatten transparent layers. Export an opaque image without an alpha channel.
- Check the file type and count. Use 1 to 10 screenshots for the device size and localization.
- Review scaled versions. Use View All Sizes in Media Manager to replace a scaled set when needed.
- Check the content. Show the app experience accurately and make captions readable at store browsing size.

Which App Store Screenshot Size Should I Actually Use?
For a new portrait screenshot set, start with 1290 × 2796 px for iPhone and 2064 × 2752 px for iPad if your app supports tablets. These are the existing StoreScreens export choices. Another accepted size in the same display slot is also valid; Apple’s table does not identify a conversion advantage for one alternative.
If you already have a suitable 6.5-inch set, Apple’s requirements do not force you to replace it with a 6.9-inch set. If your app has a different tablet layout, plan a separate iPad composition. Use a custom smaller-device set when scaling makes the message or interface harder to read.
Apple Watch, Mac, Apple TV, and Vision Pro
Apps supporting these platforms need the relevant platform screenshots. For Watch apps, choose an accepted Watch size and use the same size across all localizations. A dash means Apple does not list that orientation here.
| Device / display | Portrait (px) | Landscape (px) | Requirement / scaling |
|---|---|---|---|
| Watch Ultra 4 / Ultra 3 | 422 × 514 | — | Watch apps; same size across localizations |
| Watch Ultra 2 / Ultra | 410 × 502 | — | Watch apps; same size across localizations |
| Watch Series 12 / 11 / 10 | 416 × 496 | — | Watch apps; same size across localizations |
| Watch Series 9 / 8 / 7 | 396 × 484 | — | Watch apps; same size across localizations |
| Watch Series 6 / 5 / 4 / SE | 368 × 448 | — | Includes SE 3, SE 2, SE; same size across localizations |
| Watch Series 3 / 2 / 1 | 312 × 390 | — | Watch apps; same size across localizations |
| Mac | — | 1280 × 800 1440 × 900 2560 × 1600 2880 × 1800 | Required for Mac apps; 16:10 |
| Apple TV | — | 1920 × 1080 3840 × 2160 | Required for Apple TV apps |
| Apple Vision Pro | — | 3840 × 2160 | Required for Apple Vision Pro apps |

App Store Screenshot Size FAQ
What is the official App Store screenshot size for iPhone in 2026?
The 6.9-inch slot accepts 1260 × 2736 or 1290 × 2796 or 1320 × 2868 pixels in portrait, with corresponding landscape sizes in the table. If you do not provide a 6.9-inch set, Apple requires a 6.5-inch set for an iPhone app.
What is the App Store screenshot size for iPad?
The required 13-inch slot accepts 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 pixels in portrait. Apple can scale that set to smaller iPad slots; custom sets let you show device-specific layouts.
Do I need screenshots for every iPhone display size?
Not necessarily. If the interface is the same, Apple can use the larger set for smaller display slots following the fallback rules in the tables. Review the scaled versions and upload custom screenshots where the interface or composition differs.
How many screenshots can I upload to the App Store?
Upload 1 to 10 screenshots per device size and localization. Choose images that explain distinct parts of the app rather than filling every slot with similar views.
What file format do App Store screenshots need?
Apple accepts .jpeg, .jpg, .png files. Images must not include alpha channels or transparency. Match an accepted pixel size for the selected display slot.
Are Apple Watch screenshots required?
Yes, for Apple Watch apps. Use an accepted Watch size from the table and keep that screenshot size consistent across every localization.
What sizes do iOS app previews and screenshots use?
App Previews are videos with separate resolution, duration, and encoding rules. The screenshot dimensions on this page apply to still images. Use the linked App Store Preview Video Dimensions guide for video exports.
Which screenshot sizes does StoreScreens export?
StoreScreens exports 1290 × 2796 for iPhone, 2064 × 2752 for iPad, and 410 × 502 for Apple Watch. These are product export choices from Apple's accepted sizes; they are not every size Apple accepts.
