Google Play icon size
Google Play icon size is 512 × 512
The Google Play icon size for the store listing is a 512 × 512 PNG. It is not a substitute for the adaptive icon inside the Android app.
The listing icon and the launcher icon are two jobs
Play Console asks for a 32-bit PNG at 512 × 512 pixels, up to 1024 KB. Google rounds the corners and draws the shadow, so the file you upload stays a full square. Badges that shout a rank, a price, or “free” are rejected.
The icon people tap on their home screen is the adaptive icon: a foreground and a background that Android crops. Storescreens keeps that pair in the same store icon set, on the Android menu, so the listing icon and the launcher icon share one mark.
Same sentence as the screenshots
Write what the app does. The store icon set designs the Play icon in that world, then exports the feature graphic beside it. Your screenshot project is untouched.

Common questions
Can I upload my iOS icon to Play Console?
You can start from the same mark. Play still wants a 512 × 512 PNG, and Android still wants adaptive layers for the home screen.
Does the Play icon replace the adaptive icon?
No. The 512 × 512 file is the store listing. The adaptive foreground and background are what the phone shows.
