App Store Preview Video Dimensions & Sizes
Quick answer
For current iPhone display slots, use 886 × 1920 px portrait or 1920 × 886 px landscape. For 13-inch iPad, use 1200 × 1600 px or 1600 × 1200 px. Export a 15–30 second video, at 30 fps or less, up to 500 MB, in H.264 or ProRes 422 HQ.

iPhone App Preview video resolutions
The four larger display groups share one video resolution. Do not substitute a native device recording size simply because it has the same general shape. Values below are accepted uploads from Apple’s preview specification table.

The 3.5-inch slot does not support App Previews. Apple also lists iPhone Duo at 886 × 1920 portrait or 1920 × 886 landscape, but says asset uploading for that device will become available later this year; it is not included as an available upload slot here.
iPad App Preview video resolutions
A 13-inch iPad preview uses a 1200 × 1600 portrait canvas. The 12.9-inch slot accepts two size pairs; select one pair and keep the orientation consistent with your footage.

How scaling works
The final column identifies Apple’s fallback source when you omit a preview for that slot. Start with the largest supported display group and review each scaled result. If a device needs different footage or framing, open View All Sizes in Media Manager and supply a custom preview for that device and localization. See Apple’s upload and Media Manager guide.
App Store video specifications: format and file size
Choose the codec as well as the file extension. Renaming a file to .mp4 does not convert its contents. Use these export settings from Apple’s video specifications, then inspect the exported file before uploading.

Apple specifies enabled stereo audio tracks: one two-channel track (left, right), or two single-channel tracks (left, then right). Check the channel layout as part of export review.
Duration: 15 seconds minimum, 30 seconds maximum
Keep the entire exported file inside the allowed window, including opening and closing frames. A useful editing approach is to show one complete action, remove pauses, and check the final file’s duration after export.
How many videos can you upload?
App Previews are optional. Apple allows up to three for each supported device size and language. That is a per-slot limit, not three videos shared across all your localizations. Apple’s upload requirements explain the scope.

Common upload mistakes to check
- Using screenshot or capture dimensions. Compare the exported width and height with the accepted video row for the selected slot.
- Checking only the extension. Inspect the codec inside the file; an MP4 container alone is not enough.
- Leaving the capture at 60 fps. Set the export to no more than 30 fps.
- Missing the duration or size limit. Check the final file, including any added intro, outro, and audio.
- Exporting the wrong audio layout. Verify the codec, sample rate, enabled tracks, and stereo channels.
- Uploading into the wrong device slot. Verify both the platform and display group in Media Manager before choosing the file.
- Mistaking processing for failure. Apple says preview processing can take up to 24 hours. Review the processing status before exporting again.

What size should an App Store Preview video be?
For the 6.9-inch, 6.5-inch, 6.3-inch, and 6.1-inch iPhone slots, export 886 × 1920 pixels in portrait or 1920 × 886 in landscape. For the 13-inch iPad slot, use 1200 × 1600 or 1600 × 1200. Each file must be no larger than 500 MB.
What are App Store Preview video dimensions?
They are the width and height of the exported video in pixels. Use the accepted preview resolution for your display slot, not the device’s native screen resolution or its screenshot dimensions. The tables above include current and legacy iPhone and iPad slots.
How long can an App Store Preview video be?
Each preview must run for at least 15 seconds and no more than 30 seconds. These limits apply to each video individually.
What video format does Apple accept?
Apple accepts H.264 video in .mov, .m4v, or .mp4 files, or ProRes 422 HQ in a .mov file. Both have a maximum frame rate of 30 fps. The filename extension alone does not tell you which codec is inside.
How many App Preview videos can an app have?
You can upload up to three App Preview videos per supported device size and language. App previews are optional.
