App Store Asset Sizes & Specifications 2026

Three asset types, different jobs. Use this overview to choose the right specification, then follow the detailed guide for your export.

Quick reference / cheat sheet

These are starting points, not every accepted variant. All dimensions are width × height in pixels. StoreScreens.ai helps create the screenshot portion of your listing; prepare videos and app icons in their respective tools. For scripts and spreadsheets, the downloadable screenshot dataset provides the same screenshot specifications as JSON and CSV.

One listing, three separate asset workflows. The icon identifies the app; screenshots and previews demonstrate it.

App Store screenshots

Choose the platform and display slot before designing the canvas. The App Store Screenshot Sizes guide owns the complete portrait and landscape tables, legacy variants, and scaling rules. Use the App Store screenshot generator when you are ready to create the still images.

App Preview videos

A preview is a separate video export, not a slideshow file uploaded as a screenshot. The App Store Preview Video Dimensions guide covers iPhone and iPad resolutions, codecs, audio, and upload checks. Apple permits up to three previews per supported device size and language; each is 15–30 seconds, at most 500 MB and 30 fps.

Pick your platform

Use these notes to find the right branch of the reference. Screenshot values come from Apple’s screenshot specifications; video values come from Apple’s App Preview specifications.

iPhone

Start with a 6.9-inch screenshot set, such as 1290 × 2796 px portrait. A 6.5-inch set is required if no 6.9-inch set is supplied. See the iPhone size options.

iPad

Apps that run on iPad need a 13-inch screenshot set. 2064 × 2752 px portrait is one accepted option; smaller slots can use scaled versions. See the iPad requirements.

Apple Watch

Use an accepted Watch screenshot size, such as 410 × 502 px. Keep the same size across localizations. Apple’s preview-upload guide does not list watchOS as a supported video platform. See the Watch screenshot sizes.

Mac

Screenshot options: 1280 × 800 or 1440 × 900 or 2560 × 1600 or 2880 × 1800 px. These are 16:10 images; Mac App Previews instead use 1920 × 1080 landscape. See the Mac screenshot reference.

Apple TV

Screenshots accept 1920 × 1080 or 3840 × 2160 px. App Preview video uses 1920 × 1080 landscape. Prepare the layered app icon in Xcode separately. See the Apple TV screenshot reference.

Apple Vision Pro

Screenshots and App Previews use 3840 × 2160 px landscape. The layered app icon has its own square design canvas. See the Vision Pro screenshot reference.

App icons: design canvas vs upload assets

An app icon comes from your app project. Add it with Icon Composer or an Xcode asset catalog, then upload the app build; it does not belong in a screenshot upload slot. See Apple’s add an app icon instructions.

The table below summarizes Apple’s current icon layout guidance. These are design canvases, not a complete list of App Store image wells or generated icon sizes.

Apple app icon design canvas sizes, not all export sizes
PlatformDesign canvas (px)Workflow
iPhone / iPad / Mac1024 × 1024Square artwork; Icon Composer
Apple Watch1088 × 1088Square artwork; Icon Composer; circular system mask
Apple TV800 × 480Rectangular layered design; Xcode image stack
Apple Vision Pro1024 × 1024Square layered design; Xcode image stack; circular system mask

For final submission, follow the target’s Xcode App Store icon wells. In particular, tvOS uses the App Icon – App Store stack, and macOS uses the App Store – 2x well. Do not treat the design-canvas table as a universal PNG upload preset.
